Registrations for BOSEPO 2026 are open!
Welcome the to full overview of BOSEPO categories!
Important notes:
BOSEPO Organising Committee retains the right to update the categories list each year, no later than 4 months before the next event.
Students that win the Grand Gold award for a category are no longer allowed to compete in that category! They are more than welcome to showcase their skills in other categories, as BOSEPO aims to motivate the students to go out of their comfort zone and explore their potential. Exceptions to this rule can be made by the Organising Committee only if a written request is submited with valid reasoning.
During finalist pre-selection process, BOSEPO Project Evaluation Team retains rights to transfer a registered project into a different category than specified by the applicants, if it is determined that the project better fits into a different category, based on the predominant research field(s) and/or utilized methods. Their decision is final and not open to appeals.
For further rules, guidelines and instructions on how to prepare for the contest, please check the "Steps to a Great Project!" section.

The "Short Film" category in BOSEPO serves as a compelling platform for students to combine the power of filmmaking with a focus on addressing critical global challenges. Participants in this category are tasked with producing short films (3-5 min) that creatively convey scientific insights and solutions related to environmental and social issues. The purpose of this category is to leverage the art of storytelling through film to raise awareness, educate, and advocate for positive change in our world.
By using the medium of film, the "Short Film" category empowers students to shed light on complex environmental and social problems while proposing innovative solutions. These short films serve as a bridge between advocacy and storytelling, making complex issues and their implications accessible and engaging to a broader audience. The category aims to inspire students to advocate for positive social and environmental impact, harnessing filmmaking's persuasive and informative power to promote awareness and action toward a more sustainable and just future.
Short film project topics
BOSEPO is a competition that deeply supports the UN Sustainable Development Goals. Therefore, instead of defining film topics, you should create a short film that addresses issues relevant to 2 or 3 of the 17 SDGs. You will be required to state the selected goals in your synopsis and during the presentation of the film. We cannot wait to see your creations!
